AZ Awards Highlights from our annual awards gala
The annual celebration took over Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works to honour this year’s winners and People’s Choice picks
TWENTY JURY WINNERS and their team members left Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works with something to add to their office shelves: a matte-black steel trophy in the shape of an A and a Z, designed by Philippe Malouin. The custom-made object was presented on June 23 at the AZ Awards Gala, where some 500 guests – including professionals from Toronto and abroad, some attending from as far away as Poland and China – mixed and mingled. Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas was in the room as the event’s honoured guest. The awards show was followed up by a food- and wine-fuelled party. Revellers headed off at the end of the night with Tyvek swag bags, produced for the event by Italian brand Essent’ial.
“As architects we have to design in a way that advocates for peace rather than war. We need to design towards a world that is without borders and is more just.” – Guest of honour, Massimiliano Fuksas
