Big changes are afoot for Toronto’s architecture and design trade show lineup. Informa announced that it will restructure some of its most established assets, rebranding IIDEXCANADA as IDS Contract, a new annex to the Interior Design Show, beginning in 2019. The reimagined show will include a more curated selection of contract exhibitors from all sectors. IIDEX marked its 30th anniversary, in 2014, by forming the Buildings Show with Construct Canada. The repositioning will allow STONEX to join next December’s Buildings Show and will provide space for other sections to expand. Muuto, the young furniture and accessories brand based in Copenhagen, has been purchased by one of Americas’ top design companies. Knoll announced in mid-december that it had acquired Muuto for approximately US$300 million. Andrew Cogan, Knoll President and CEO, says that the Scandinavian brand’s affordable luxury products and “resimercial” focus are a perfect complement to Knoll’s own range of modern designs.
