We’ve seen the heartwarming coffee commercials of the Kenya Ice Lions hockey team brought overseas to play the game they love in the country that invented the sport. NHL superstars were added and a dream came true. But it didn’t end when the cameras stopped rolling. Thanks to local resident Garry Mercer, the Lions got in a game of shinny at Westwood Arena with Mercer’s own friends and family. “We played two hours of hockey with them. We were beat. They didn’t want to stop,” he said to the Toronto Star. Now that’s hockey.
