CUT THE SKY, MAR­RUGEKU | AUS­TRALIA

Har­bourfront Cen­tre has launched a new con­tem­po­rary dance series dubbed Torque. It kicks off with the Cana­dian pre­miere of Cut The Sky, by Aus­tralian dance com­pany Mar­rugeku. The pro­duc­tion is in­spired by the poems writ­ten and spo­ken by Ed­win Lee Mul­li­gan. It runs for just two days, Nov. 23 to 24, Har­bourfront­cen­tre.com.

ANNA KAREN­INA, NA­TIONAL BAL­LET OF CANADA

The North Amer­i­can pre­miere of John Neumeier’s Anna Karen­ina, based on Leo Tol­stoy’s mas­ter­ful work will fea­ture prin­ci­pal dancers Svet­lana Lunk­ina, Heather Og­den and So­nia Ro­driguez. The co-pro­duc­tion with the Bol­shoi Bal­let and Ham­burg Bal­let has been hailed as “an Anna Karen­ina of our times. The show runs Nov. 10 to 18, Na­tion­al­bal­let.ca.
