Ice­land pro­duces nearly all of its elec­tric­ity through re­new­able en­ergy, mainly hy­dro and geo­ther­mal power. The Hvalá hy­dro plant pro­posed by Al­terra Power's Ice­landic sub­sidiary would sat­isfy the coun­try's elec­tric­ity needs for the next three years.
