Stop the presses; Dhillon Construction features a widely functional infill of bright modern interiors, premium finishes, and terrific value.
Launching Dhillon Construction with his father in 2008, Harminder Dhillon and his wife Vickey, find focus with the infill and custom home market in Calgary. “Our attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is what we are known for in creating highly efficient uses of space,” shares Harminder Dhillon. “What we emphasize is maximizing the use of available living space in our builds.”
Exhibiting over 2,700 square feet on three developed levels in Calgary’s northwest, easy access to the mountains was an the attitude Dhillon Construction incorporated into the façade with stone finishes that blend with a modern styling. “The ledge stone selected was more naturally vivid than most, and in the interior we opted for a transitional look that optimizes the floor plan’s thoughtful use of space,” explains Dhillon. “Visitors comment on how spacious the infill’s interiors feel. The layout was designed to maximize square footage and we did that by placing the staircase at the side for unobstructed flows,” shares Dhillon. Positioning the kitchen at the rear of the home further eliminated dead space with the great room, dining room, and kitchen transitioning fluidly on the open main level.
Glass railings were used in the staircase to enhance clear views and to promote a lightness in the décor. Designed for a young family with its open concept design, three bedrooms upstairs and one down accommodate children at every age with dual sinks in the main upstairs bath hosting slightly lower countertops to accommodate young family members. “We aligned the bedrooms upstairs front to back, affording maximum square footage in each room, plus the dual skylight above the staircase illuminates second story flows that also host nine-foot ceilings,” adds Dhillon.
The spacious gourmet kitchen features a large island with casual seating, ideal for entertainment and dinner parties. Downstairs, the wet bar services the spacious rec room area. “We diligently researched row homes to determine the best use of available space. This style of home has been around for centuries and there is much one can learn about optimizing layouts for a conventional lifestyle,” cites Dhillon.
Located in Montgomery, the area offers mountain escapes to the west with a lot of residential and commercial development currently under way and the convenience of the Market Mall, hospitals, and the University of Calgary. “People really respond to the quality of finishes and a great kitchen, which is perfect for the at-home chef with abundant space for friends and family to gather,” says Dhillon. “The main level is the real attraction with the three-sided fireplace and abundant natural light. It all comes together with front-facing escarpment views.”
