The layout was designed to maximize square footage and we did that by placing the staircase at the side for unobstructed flows,” shares Dhillon. Positioning the kitchen at the rear of the home further eliminated dead space with the great room, dining room, and kitchen transitioning fluidly on the open main level.

Glass railings were used in the staircase to enhance clear views and to promote a lightness in the décor. The spacious gourmet kitchen features a large island with casual seating, ideal for entertainment and dinner parties. Downstairs, the wet bar services the spacious rec room area. “We diligently researched row homes to determine the best use of available space. This style of home has been around for centuries and there is much one can learn about optimizing layouts for a conventional lifestyle,” cites Dhillon.

Located in Montgomery, the area offers mountain escapes to the west with a lot of residential and commercial development currently under way and the convenience of the Market Mall, hospitals, and the University of Calgary. “People really respond to the quality of finishes and a great kitchen, which is perfect for the at-home chef with abundant space for friends and family to gather,” says Dhillon. “The main level is the real attraction with the three-sided fireplace and abundant natural light. It all comes together with front-facing escarpment views.”
