MARRIOTT LAUNCHES MOXY, AN ECONOMY BRAND
Marriott has announced the launch of MOXY Hotels, its first foray into the economy hotel sector. The brand will debut in Milan, Italy in early 2014. Marriott aims to combine contemporary design and approachable service with affordable rates with a focus on the millennial traveler.
Hotels will have 150-to-300 guestrooms, with LEED Gold certification and design based on a neutral color palette. Each guestroom will display a floor-to-ceiling“art wall” with artwork to reflect the local area. Free WiFi and mobile check-in will be available.
Marriott plans to open 150 MOXY Hotels in Europe throughout the next 10 years in Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
“MOXY Hotels is the essence of the next generation traveler, not only Gen X andY but people with a younger sensibility, for whom contemporary style is paramount,”said Marriott International’s president and CEO, Arne Sorenson. The announcement came at the Berlin International Hotel Investment Forum.
