Los Angeles International (LAX) –
LAX’s Terminal 5 will be undergoing a $229 million overhaul that’s slated for completion in 2015. Los Angeles World Airports and Delta Air Lines have both invested in the construction project.
On the landside, the renovation will double the size of the ticketing lobby and security screening checkpoints, create an exclusive Sky Priority experience with a separate lobby and checkpoint for qualifying Delta passengers and a private VIP lobby for the “most elite experience available at LAX,” according to the press release. New baggage carousels will also be installed.
Airside renovations will include a revamped Delta Sky Club that will include a full-service bar. In addition the terminal will boast new carpet, tile, more recharging stations and 15 new restaurants and shops.
Approximately $12 million of the project’s funding is coming from Delta, and $25 million is coming from the TSA for enhancements to security-screening measures. Los Angeles World Airports is investing the rest of the $229 million.
