Carry-on Bags, Drinks Will Cost on Fron­tier

Start­ing this sum­mer, Fron­tier Air­lines will charge for carry-on bag­gage and drinks. Pas­sen­gers who book“ba­sic fares,”which are the low­est fares booked out­side of fly­fron­tier.com, will be charged any­where from $25 to $100 for carry-on lug­gage.

The air­line has also in­creased the checked bag fee for those who check at the air­port. Pas­sen­gers who pay for a checked bag on­line while book­ing will pay the stan­dard $20, but pas­sen­gers who check at the air­port will pay $25. This new price struc­ture will go into ef­fect for econ­omy and ba­sic tick­ets booked on or af­ter June 1 for travel on or af­ter July 11.

Fron­tier will also be­gin charg­ing for bev­er­ages be­gin­ning July 1. Pas­sen­gers who buy econ­omy or ba­sic fares, which cur­rently in­cludes com­pli­men­tary drinks will have to pay $1.99 for cof­fee, tea, soda and juice. Pur­chases re­quire a debit card.

The air­line will also lower the mileage ac­crual rate from 50 per­cent to 25 per­cent for pas­sen­gers book­ing ba­sic fares.
