Club Carl­son Com­mits to Car­bon-off­set­ting

Club Carl­son has com­mit­ted to a global meet­ings and events car­bon-off­set­ting ini­tia­tive. The loy­alty pro­gram will make car­bon off­set­ting free for meet­ing plan­ners. It also plans to pur­chase car­bon cred­its to off­set its foot­print 100 per­cent.

The pro­gram will in­vest in re­new­able en­ergy in In­dia and plant one tree for ev­ery ton of car­bon off­set in the Great Rift Val­ley of Kenya. Club Carl­son mem­bers may also re­deem their Gold Points to­ward those projects.

“Carl­son Rezi­dor takes sus­tain­abil­ity se­ri­ously,”said chief com­mer­cial of­fi­cer, Suzanne Ri­esterer.“Ac­cord­ing to the United Na­tions World Tourism Or­ga­ni­za­tion-United National En­vi­ron­ment Pro­gram (UNWTO-UNEP), ho­tels gen­er­ate about 20 per­cent of tourism’s to­tal car­bon foot­print. This in­no­va­tive off­set­ting so­lu­tion is a unique ser­vice of Club Carl­son, and will help to re­duce our ho­tels’and our cus­tomers’ car­bon foot­print.”
