Club Carlson Commits to Carbon-offsetting
Club Carlson has committed to a global meetings and events carbon-offsetting initiative. The loyalty program will make carbon offsetting free for meeting planners. It also plans to purchase carbon credits to offset its footprint 100 percent.
The program will invest in renewable energy in India and plant one tree for every ton of carbon offset in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. Club Carlson members may also redeem their Gold Points toward those projects.
“Carlson Rezidor takes sustainability seriously,”said chief commercial officer, Suzanne Riesterer.“According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization-United National Environment Program (UNWTO-UNEP), hotels generate about 20 percent of tourism’s total carbon footprint. This innovative offsetting solution is a unique service of Club Carlson, and will help to reduce our hotels’and our customers’ carbon footprint.”
