INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM Pier 86 – 12th Ave. and W. 46th St.
We’ll head back down to 46th Street and west to the Hudson River to find the 900-foot-long World War II aircraft carrier Intrepid, which now serves as the world’s largest naval museum. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s collection boasts 30 restored aircraft, including a Lockheed A-12 Blackbird, the Bell UH-1A Iroquois “Huey” helicopter and a collection of Soviet MiGs. Visitors can take a tour of the cruise missile submarine USS Growler, the British Airways Concorde and sailors’ onetime living quarters on the carrier. And of course, the highlight is a chance to see up close the Space Shuttle Enterprise in its new pavilion. It reopened in July following post-Sandy repairs. Summer hours Mon - Fri 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Sat, Sun & Holidays 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Admission $29.
