Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) –
With more than 800 US companies Washington, DC, get their share of business travelers. Now AUH is proposing a US. Basically, it means clearing customs and immigration before touching down back in the US, in much the same way as you would when returning from Toronto or Vancouver.
The move is not without controversy, however. Industry groups such as Airlines for America, Airports Council International – North America and Global Business Travel Association oppose the plan. Congress has also weighed in; a number of Senators and Representatives have sent letters to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting an explanation for the decision, and the rationale behind choosing “a location that is not served by any carriers based in the United States.”
