Lufthansa Launches New Pre­mium Econ­omy Class

Lufthansa has un­veiled its new Pre­mium Econ­omy Class, fea­tur­ing a re­designed high-qual­ity seat that of­fers greater com­fort and up to 50 per­cent more room. The Pre­mium Econ­omy culi­nary ex­pe­ri­ence will also be a step up from Econ­omy Class, with higher qual­ity cui­sine served on porce­lain din­ner­ware. Pas­sen­gers in Pre­mium Econ­omy will also be able to take a sec­ond item of lug­gage with them at no ex­tra charge.

The first air­craft to carry the new class of ser­vice will be the Boe­ing 747-8. In­stal­la­tion of Pre­mium Econ­omy seat­ing is sched­uled to be com­pleted by the end of 2015, at which point there will be a to­tal of 3,600 seats in the long-haul fleet cab­ins. Tick­ets will be avail­able for sale in May, and the first flight is planned for Oc­to­ber.
