Brussels has always been one of Europe’s hidden secrets when it comes to gourmet dining. The Belgian capital is a destination that surprises with its infinite variety and mix of flavors. French food here can be unbelievably better than in France itself, while Belgian cuisine has a lot more to offer than the traditional fare.

And this is one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan capitals, with a kaleidoscope of ethnic restaurants reflecting the different nationalities working around the European Commission headquarters, and the vibrant mix of immigrants from all over the world.

The city boasts a host of creative restaurants that are forging a very individual identity for Belgian cuisine. Here’s a quartet of dining venues that range from tried and true gastronomic addresses to gourmet hot spots.
