Visit and par­tic­i­pate in the an­nual Smith­so­nian Folk­life Fes­ti­val, an in­ter­na­tional ex­po­si­tion of liv­ing cul­tural her­itage fea­tur­ing di­verse, au­then­tic tra­di­tions – both old and new. The Fes­ti­val is Wash­ing­ton’s largest an­nual cul­tural event, draw­ing as many as a mil­lion vis­i­tors to the Na­tional Mall. In the past, it’s at­tracted mu­si­cians, artists, per­form­ers, crafts­peo­ple, work­ers, cooks and sto­ry­tellers who re ect a va­ri­ety of cul­tural tra­di­tions. Usu­ally di­vided into pro­grams fea­tur­ing a na­tion, re­gion, state or theme, this year’s Fes­ti­val fo­cuses on China and Kenya.
