Seasonal Landscapes in Japanese Screens Freer Gallery, Washington, DC March 7 – September 2016

Business Traveler (USA) - - THE SCENE -

Delicate cherry trees bloom as pheasants take wing – just a few of the evocative images in this collection of Japanese folding screen paintings. Vivid landscapes from the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries combine ink painting techniques from China with the vibrant colors and gold of traditional Japanese painting to create a new style on a grand scale. The exhibition in the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery runs through September 2016.
