Kimpton Gets TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program Nod
TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program has recognized all 65 Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants for their leadership in environmental practices. Kimpton is the first hotel brand to reach portfolio-wide participation.
The TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program was developed in partnership with all of the key players in the eco-world: US Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program, the US Green Building Council, and the United Nations Environment Programme. The program helps travelers find and plan stays with eco-friendly hotels.
“Ever since we opened our first hotels in the early‘80s, when‘going green’certainly wasn’t the norm, we’ve been keenly aware of how our daily practices improve both the guest experience and minimize our environmental impact,” says Kimpton chief executive officer Mike DeFrino.“We’re honored to be the first hotel group to have 100 percent brand compliance.”

Southwest Airlines has selected new seats for future deliveries on the Boeing 787-800 and 737 MAX aircraft. The new seats will begin to appear with the deliveries of its Dreamliners in mid-2016 and in 2017 aboard the 737 MAX.
“The new aircraft seats are the widest economy seats available in the singleaisle 737 market, and offer a unique design that gives our customers what they asked for: More space,”said Bob Jordan, Southwest’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. The seats also include an adjustable headrest and increased legroom, as well as more personal stowage, while decreasing the overall weight of the product.
The seats are the first element of the 737 MAX aircraft interior to be released by Boeing and Southwest to the public.
