Fin­nair has an­nounced a new part­ner­ship with broadband and tech­nol­ogy com­pany Vi­aSat Inc.Vi­aSat will pro­vide an end-to-end in­flight con­nec­tion ser­vice for the en­tire Fin­nair fleet, in­clud­ing the in­stal­la­tion of a high-speed wire­less In­ter­net network on the car­rier’s en­tire Air­bus A320 se­ries short-haul fleet fly­ing in Europe.

The setup of the WiFi equip­ment will start in May 2017, and is pro­jected to be com­plete by June 2018. Fin­nair is cur­rently op­er­at­ing six A350-XWB air­craft which al­ready of­fer wire­less connectivity, with an­other five slated for de­liv­ery by the end of next year. Fin­nair is also retrofitting its en­tire long-haul fleet of Air­bus A330 air­craft with WiFi connectivity by May 2017.

Fin­nair’s wire­less In­ter­net ac­cess is free for Busi­ness class pas­sen­gers, Fin­nair Plus Gold and Plat­inum cus­tomers, and oneworld Sap­phire and Emerald level cus­tomers, and is avail­able for pur­chase in econ­omy class.
