Project near transit
Complex slated for Midnapore to have 55 units
Access to transit was a driving factor for a planned condo project in Midnapore. A 55-unit complex will be built less than 900 metres from the Shawnessy LRT station.
It is to be developed by Calgary Urban Equities Ltd. and Luxe Developments.
“This particular project would qualify as a transitoriented development (TOD),” says president Johnathan Allen of Calgary Urban Equities Ltd. “That is one of many significant characteristics of what we would consider to be a successful urban infill project.”
The 0.4 hectare development is also near grocery and retail shopping opportunities, says Allen.
The condo complex is yet to be named.
After living in an established community such as Midnapore, staying nearby in a new home can be appealing, says Allen.
“A fairly significant component of the buyer profile will be local to that area,” he says. “As a long-standing residential community, the residents within that community whose life circumstances are changing often have a propensity to chose a residence that is close to where they’ve been living.”
The building will include one level of heated underground parking. Units are expected to cost in the low to mid-$200,000 range.
The tower is currently in the design process in advance of a development permit application, says Allen.
Construction of the complex is slated to start in 2013 and expected to be completed in 2014.
The project will be near the Shawnessy LRT station.
