Lux­ury digs carry sky-high price tag

The ca­chet of liv­ing in the finest property in town is se­duc­tive for the world’s bil­lion­aires — and dream­ers, too.

But with large-scale lat­eral square footage at a pre­mium in city cen­tres, property de­vel­op­ers are build­ing up­ward, cre­at­ing some of the most lav­ish new sky­scrapers in the world’s most pres­ti­gious neigh­bour­hoods.

Bil­lion­aire.com ranked the most lav­ish high­rise apart­ment blocks money can buy based on price of the pent­house and the aver­age price per square foot. Not sur­pris­ingly, prop­er­ties in Lon­don and New York came out on top: 1. One Hyde Park, Lon­don Aver­age price per square foot: $9,906 US. Pent­house: $226.9 mil­lion US. 2. 432 Park Av­enue, New York Aver­age price per square foot: $6,742 US. Pent­house: $95 mil­lion US. 3. One57, New York Aver­age price per square foot: $6,600 US. Pent­house: $90 mil­lion US.
