SABAL: Homes make great use of space

Calgary Herald New Condos - - New Condos -

They chose the Sonik floorplan with a French Country facade. This is one of the models in the builder’s SabalSmart line. The Sonik is a 1,181-square-foot plan with three bedrooms and oneand-a-half bathrooms.

“Everyone says this in their advertising, but it really is true — the standard finishes are awesome,” says Madeline. She and Zane toured the show homes, asked questions and liked what they heard, Madeline adds.

“They are really well-built houses,” she says. “Zane being an engineer would go into the basement and check things out.”

Meanwhile, Madeline asked about the standard features in the show homes and wondered if they were upgraded options.

“Most of them weren’t and I was shocked,” says Madeline. The second floor of the Sonik offers the choice of a dual-master or three-bedroom orientation.

“We went with the three-bedroom because we have a daughter and we may have more or maybe it can be a study, a craft room or something like that,” Madeline adds.

The Sonik’s design features a lot of useful space, she says. Other SabalSmart floorplans include the 1,293-square-foot Syntax and the Serif, which is 1,407 square feet. They start in the mid-$300,000s.

“With SabalSmart, people love that they’re getting all the benefits of a single-family home, along with an incredibly attainable price point,” says Nicole McLaws, Sabal’s marketing manager. And these homes are branded ‘smart’ for a reason, McLaws notes.

“Every SabalSmart home has an innovative, modern floorplan that makes excellent use of space, plus upscale standard specifications inside and out,” she adds. There’s also the opportunity to personalize these homes with a professional designer at Sabal’s designSense Studio.

The Syntax and Sonik models are on display as show homes in Mahogany.

“We hear so many comments about how spacious and bright the homes are, about how well planned they are and of course, about their fantastic location,” says McLaws.

Mahogany earned the top community honour for the city of Calgary at this year’s Calgary region SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards. It’s the second year in a row the development by Hopewell earned this award. Mahogany is known as an amenityrich development, with a large lake, wetlands and a planned retail centre.

“The lake was a huge draw,” says Madeline. “I’ve always grown up on a lake and Zane is from South Africa and spent a few years on the ocean. We both miss water.”

They also see it as an ideal place to raise two-year-old Eleanor.

“We have these images of when she’s older, being able to go to the beach with her friends and still be close to home and sort of have a community where we can grow as a family and be happy for many years,” she adds.
