Windstone offers up a winner

Townhome loaded with features at an affordable price

Calgary Herald New Condos - - New Condos - JOSH SKAPIN DIRECTIONS:

When considering a starter home, buyers often need to scratch some items off their wish list. Based on price, some spaces in the home aren’t realistic.

But with the Windstone townhome at Arrive at Redstone by Partners Development Group, there isn’t the need to compromise. Redstone is a community in northeast Calgary master-planned by Qualico.

The garage, home office, energyefficient features — even vaulted ceilings in the master bedroom. It’s all there.

This development has show homes for two versions of its Windstone plan: an end unit and an interior.

The interior model includes two bedrooms, a den and two- anda-half bathrooms. It measures 1,210-square-feet across three levels.

The ground level is about function. It’s where the home attaches to a single-car garage.

From the garage, there’s a half bathroom on one side and a mechanical room on the other.

It steps into a den that’s wellsuited to act as a home office.

Putting the office on the ground level separates it from the busiest parts of the home, giving its user peace and quiet for polishing off unfinished office work or studying for an exam.

For people with a home business, this is a convenient place to connect with clients while keeping the rest of the home private. There’s also a closet next to the den.

The main floor is for socializing with family and friends. Its wall-less design creates a natural flow from food preparation in the kitchen to the meal time in the dining area and then a place to stretch out and relax with the great room.

The great room boasts towering energy-efficient windows. And on warm days, the great room doesn’t end there.

Sliding glass doors step out to a spacious balcony with a vinyl surface, where entertaining guests can continue in the fresh air. But it’s not just for visitors. The balcony seems perfect for a sunny morning with a cup of coffee and an iPad.

Laminate hardwood flooring covers the main floor.

The kitchen boasts maple cabinets and an EnergyStar stainless steel appliance package.

It’s a spacious U-shaped design with plenty of counter space and room for more than one domestic chef.

There’s also a breakfast bar with seating for at least two people. The sink in the kitchen is next to a large window.

From the kitchen, stairs access the top floor.

This floor has generously-sized bedrooms on either end.

The master bedroom has an ensuite and a closet spread the width of one of its walls.

A full bathroom sits next to the other bedroom.

So does a laundry room, making it easy to haul a basket of clothes to and from the washer and dryer.

Among the home’s greenfriendly features is a 96 per cent high-efficiency furnace, watersaving toilets and faucets, and a heat recovery-ventilator. The show home and sales centre is located at 104 Redstone View N.E. Take Metis Trail to 128th Ave. and head right on Redstone Street. Then turn left on Redstone Way and left again on Redstone View. INFORMATION: Visit arrivehome.ca

The great room in the interior Windstone unit at Arrive at Redstone has a wall-less design that opens up the space to the kitchen and balcony.
