Humphries, Hudec top athletes
Skier Jan Hudec and bobsled star Kaillie Humphries were named the male and female open athletes of the year by the Alberta Sport Connection on Wednesday. Other awards went to Calgary swimmer Yuri Kisil ( junior male), Edmonton figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond ( junior female), Calgary- based luge relay team of Alex Gough, Sam Edney, Tristan Walker and Justin Snith ( open team) and Kelsey Rocque’s Edmonton curling rink ( junior team). Other Calgary- area winners: ringette coach Beth Veale, cross- country skiing coach Robin McKeever, lacrosse coach Duane Bratt, canoe and kayak official Duncan Daniels, netball official Deirdrie Zuk, orienteering volunteer Charlotte MacNaughton and netball volunteer Paula MacWilliam.
