Local cyclist strikes gold

Calgarian Mike Sametz struck gold on the opening day of the Global Relay Canadian Road National championships in St. Georges, Que. on Thursday. The local para- cyclist won the ITT MC!- 3/ WC15 category, ahead of locals Jay Milley ( fourth) and Michelle Salt ( sixth). In the WT 1- 2/ MT1- 2 category, locals Ash Wilson and Kas Duong placed third and fourth, respectively. In the women’s blind tandem event, Carla Shibley came fourth. Results will part of the selection process for the Canadian para- cycling team at the Toronto Para Pan Am Games Aug. 7 to 15.
