The list of major winners who were previously announced includes Tom Watson (1983, 1982, 1980, 1977, 1975 British Opens, 1982 U.S. Open, along with the 1981 and 1977 Masters); Fred Couples (1992 Masters), Bernhard Langer (1993 and 1985 Masters) and John Daly (1995 British Open, 1991 PGA Championship).

With O’Meara and Kite booking their tickets to Calgary, the 2016 Shaw Charity Classic will now welcome a record six World Golf Hall of Fame Members. (The others are Couples, Langer and Colin Montgomerie).

Shaw Charity Classic executive director Sean Van Kesteren can’t wait to see all of the talent assembled at Canyon Meadows.

“This is an incredible lineup of athletes that have all been a part of some of the greatest memorable moments in the game, and are sure to put on a great show for all Calgary golf fans to enjoy,” Van Kesteren said. “Not only is this group some of the most successful players on tour, they are also among the most respected.

“They can still play at a very high level and I guarantee they will be ready to duel it out to win at Canyon Meadows.”

The tournament has raised more than $8.5 million in its first three years, with a PGA TOUR Champions record-setting donation of $3,942,712 raised in 2015 that was distributed among 99 youth-based charities in Alberta.

The star-studded field will compete for US$2.35 million in a three-round, 54-hole stroke-play tournament. The winner of Canada’s lone Champions tour stop will receive US$352,500 and 352 Charles Schwab Cup Points.
