Friends of Meghan Bomford’s mother, Lisa, have set up a GoFundMe page to help assist in the costs of anything she will potentially face following the tragic death of her daughter on Tuesday.

In a statement, gofundme organizer Karim Walji said any monies raised through the website will be used to support the family through this trying time. Walji added any donation, “will be greatly appreciated as we support Lisa and Sarah, her other daughter, in getting through this trying time.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Lisa and her family.”

Meghan Bomford, 17, was a passenger in a westbound Jeep being driven by her father, Shaun Bomford, who lost control between 68th Street and 52nd Street N.E. and rolled across the eastbound lanes.

Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Walji added that at this point to his knowledge no arrangements have been made for a funeral, but it’s expected the donations will help toward covering those costs.

Meghan, who was described by her mother as a “feisty, generous and loving girl who has a love for all things ringette” was in the vehicle with her best friend Kelsey Nelson, both students at Crescent Heights High School.

Meghan’s cousin Becky Driver told Postmedia the family is grateful for the support of the community. “It means so much knowing there are kind people out there doing everything to help us through this and doing it out of the goodness of their heart. Everything helps at this point,” she said.
