Mentally ill should not own firearms

Re: “Congress targets gun ban tied to mental health,” Feb. 17.

-

The Trump administration is proposing to eliminate the regulation banning certain mentally ill people in the U.S. from purchasing firearms.

This is bad news, indeed. Based on my experience working for two years in a mental hospital, as both a nurse’s aide (involving very close contact with patients) and later as a psychologist, I certainly would not want any of them to own a gun.

If Trump allows the mentally ill to own guns, then I wonder about his mental status.
