What a blatant attempt to influence the coming election in Calgary. It’s obvious the Flames’ owners want a pro-arena mayor and councillors elected.
Calgarians have made it clear to Mayor Naheed Nenshi and our councillors that we are not in favour of a huge spend of cash toward a new arena. We want taxpayer input limited and a good return for our investment.
We believe Nenshi has been bargaining in good faith with the owners toward this end.
Arguing for or against a new arena is not the issue here and we hope Calgarians understand what is happening and vote accordingly. The billionaire owners and Gary Bettman should stay out of our politics.

The only thing dumber than Nenshi is a Nenshi voter.
Tazz is right. These writers would rather we be quiet and meek and let Nenshi handle the issue and the public should not speak out. To them gov't knows best and care about the public. Naive idiots that gov'ts love.
You lost me at Nenshi bargaining in good faith. I would hate to lose a team like the Flames. Yes I think they are overpaid but they do contribute to the community. One of the Flames who was traded to Florida asked his new bosses what his community involvement would be. Apparently they looked at him like he was crazy.
Tazzman55216 Sep 2017 7:18 AM What is your problem with making it a campaign issue? That the people actually have some influence once every three years? You government knows best types can screw off. If this isn't a legitimate election issue, I don't know what is.
