Three writ­ers with Al­berta con­nec­tions are finalists for a na­tional prize. The three au­thor’s sto­ries were se­lected from more than 1,400 en­tered in the 2017 CBC Non­fic­tion con­test.

Sarah Bennett of St. John’s, Nfld., who was raised in Cal­gary and at­tended the U of C, for her work en­ti­tled Caught

Carla Pow­ell of Liver­pool, N.S., who was born and raised in Drumheller, for The Road to Machu Pic­chu Starts at 385 lbs.

Gail Nardi of White­horse, Yukon, who was raised in Edmonton, for The Guardian.
