Nobody should need bigger bin

-

Re: “We’re wary of changing bin sizes,” Editorial, June 12. If you want to opt for a smaller cart, consider that annual black cart charges are $60.

Based only on cart size, the annual charge for a mini-cart would be $30.

Of course, the savings would be much less, since fixed costs such as labour would be shared equally.

Only variable costs, such as landfill use, would be prorated.

For those who need a bigger cart, what does that say about your lifestyle? Unless you’ve got quintuplets still in diapers, you’ve got no excuse for overfilling a standard cart every two weeks.

How much unrecyclable and uncompostable stuff are you tossing ?

In the rare event that I have excess trash, my next-door neighbour is happy to accommodate my excess in her cart, and vice versa.

If your neighbours are less accommodating, sweeten the deal with a toonie.

Of course, you would have to (horrors) talk to your neighbour, but it’s a better solution than blighting the landscape with 360-litre behemoths.
