Push the IOC for A bigger commitment

Calgary Herald - - LETTERS -

The numbers are in (sort of ) and negotiations are ongoing, but aren’t we missing a key component here? Why aren’t we negotiating further with the IOC? Do we just take them at their word that this is all the money they can contribute?

It is obvious they are keen for us to host the 2026 Olympics because we are in the ideal time zone to attract mega-bucks for television rights. Does this not put us in a position to negotiate a higher percentage of potential revenues?

I’m sure the IOC is watching this gong show, aware that Canadians will shoulder the costs of hosting these games while they come out pocketing a windfall. Cecile Boehm, Calgary
