Will the mayor, or someone on council, explain to the taxpayers why it takes an election for them to decide to listen to the voters. I read (Coun. Sean) Chu’s comments (which it seems others on council are piling on), and while I completely agree, why voice it now? For the past three years, I, and I’m sure legions of others, have sent many e-mails to this city’s mayor and council, requesting they suspend this art initiative until the economy improved and they had a better idea of how to get these funds to local artists. Did they listen? No. Did they reply? No. Did they even seem to care? No. Will I vote for them in October? No. Have they earned the right to represent this city? Emphatically no!
