Car­ni­val skills sought in open cast­ing call for lo­cally shot se­ries

Pro­duc­ers of the al­ber­tashot pe­riod drama damna­tion are look­ing for some very spe­cific types with very spe­cific tal­ents to serve as ex­tras for scenes in­volv­ing a car­ni­val in the 1930s.

So if you’re a “cir­cus en­ter­tainer” of some sort, or look like one, you may fit the bill and are asked to come to an open cast­ing call for the uni­ver­sal/Net­flix se­ries on tues­day at the Clar­ion Ho­tel, 2120 16 ave. N.E., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

the cast­ing de­part­ment is look­ing for peo­ple who can play strong men, al­bino men, lit­tle peo­ple, joined twins, bearded women, ma­gi­cians, jug­glers, fire-eaters, axe-throw­ers, knife-throw­ers, buskers of all kinds, gen­eral carny types and ven­dors of all eth­nic back­grounds.

In fact, if you are a cir­cus en­ter­tainer of any type, you are wel­come to try out.

the scenes will be shot be­tween aug. 23 and Sept. 25 at al­bertina Farms, east of Oko­toks.

damna­tion has been de­scribed as an “epic saga of the se­cret his­tory of the 1930s amer­i­can Heart­land” and stars Ir­ish ac­tor Kil­lian Scott as a man pre­tend­ing to be a small-town preacher look­ing to “start a full-blown in­sur­rec­tion against the sta­tus quo.”
