Four exposed to unknown substance at N.W. Calgary jail
Four people have been sent to hospital after being exposed to an unknown substance at the Calgary Correctional Centre late Saturday afternoon.
emergency crews were dispatched to the jail in the city’s northwest a little after 5 p.m. after staff searching an inmate were exposed to an unknown substance in his belongings, said Calgary emS spokesman Stuart brideaux.
three corrections staff and one inmate were taken to hospitals by emS, all listed in non-life-threatening condition.
the Calgary Fire department’s hazardous material and decontamination units were also called to the scene. alberta Health Services was working to determine the nature of the substance.
