Tips sought in slay­ing

City homi­cide de­tec­tives are hop­ing the re­lease of sur­veil­lance im­ages will trig­ger some leads in an un­solved killing from last year.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have had lit­tle luck track­ing down who was re­spon­si­ble for the death of Har­sim­ran singh birdi, the 20-year-old Calgary man found dead in an al­ley near Har­vest Hills Link n.e. on the morn­ing of april 7, 2016.

re­porters de­scribed a bloody scene, with the vic­tim seen suf­fer­ing sig­nif­i­cant in­juries to his head. Po­lice say birdi’s death was tar­geted.

be­fore the dis­cov­ery of birdi’s body, res­i­dents told Postmedia they’d heard a com­mo­tion in the al­ley and saw ve­hi­cles flee­ing the scene at high speed.

on Tues­day, in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­leased CCTv im­ages of a man they be­lieve has in­for­ma­tion on birdi’s death.

He’s de­scribed as an 135 lbs. man of mid­dle eastern de­scent, about 5-foot-8 in height with dark brown hair. He’s con­nected to a 1995 to 2004 grey nis­san Pathfinder with sig­nif­i­cant front-end dam­age.

Po­lice are also look­ing for a sec­ond ve­hi­cle, be­lieved to be a brown 2002 to 2004 Chevro­let ven­ture mini­van.
