The Toronto-based Beauchamp family has operated a custom tailoring business for civilian and military clienteles through three generations. The new book Walter Beauchamp: A Tailored History of Toronto (Figure 1 Publishing, 175 pages, $40) portrays the evolution of the business over more than a century while telling about the officers and soldiers, mayors and prime ministers, judges, artists, and explorers who shopped there. This image shows a collection of war medal ribbons that was produced as a tailor’s guide and as a showpiece for the Beauchamp and How store in 1951.
