Where are the Fenders?

Canadian Cycling Magazine - - LETTERS -

Whenever you guys publish an article about riding on gravel, I am always struck by one thing. The bikes you show in the pictures don’t have fenders. What’s with you guys? You are supposedly out riding for fun and you prefer to get where you are going covered in crud from every muddy section you ride through? What are you worried about? The weight? Looking less cool? Don’t make me laugh. A couple of pounds of fender won’t make one whit of difference in anything but a hardcore racing situation and there’s nothing cool about walking into a store, café or friend’s house dripping crap that a pair of fenders would have kept off you. I did the Ride to Conquer Cancer last summer on a tandem bike and yes, we had fenders. And yes, it made for a much more pleasant experience in the rain.
