Canadian Cycling Magazine - - NOTES FROM THE GRUPPETTO -

Velopedia works as both a reference book and a coffeetable book. If you want to look up the height and grade of Grand Tour climbs, you’ll find that information here. You’ll find stats of road cycling’s greatest sprinters. There’s a rundown of each of the Monument races. You can also find out about icons, which include Major Taylor, Fausto Coppi and Jeannie Longo. There’s a page on Alfonsina “the Devil in a Dress” Strada, who won 36 races against men and rode the 1924 Giro d’italia.

What puts this volume in coffee-table-book territory is the illustrations. They present statistics, routes and other figures cleanly and clearly. Sure, you can find out a lot of the information contained in this book on “somethingpedia” online. But the beauty of this book is that you have all the cycling information right at your fingertips in a package that will never run out of batteries.
