What is HCTZ?

Canadian Cycling Magazine - - INNOCENT BUT... -

Hydrochlorothiazide, commonly known as hctz, is a therapeutic diuretic that stimulates the kidneys and increases the amount of urine the body excretes. It’s often prescribed in pill form by physicians to treat fluid retention in patients with cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disorders and people with congestive heart failure. It can also be used to treat high blood pressure. hctz is found on wada’s Prohibited List because of its ability to be used as a masking agent to cover up the use of performance-enhancing substances.
