One dis­ad­van­tage of a cor­ner lot is that pedes­tri­ans of­ten like to cut cor­ners, i.e., take a short­cut across your property. Tall fences, hedges or shrub plant­ings to block the way aren’t an op­tion since they ob­scure sight­lines for driv­ers ap­proach­ing the cor­ner. How­ever, an airy fence or a low (one me­tre or so) hedge, par­tic­u­larly one fea­tur­ing thorny plants, such as bar­ber­ries or roses, can be an ef­fec­tive yet at­trac­tive bar­rier.
