| Rac­coons and skunks can tear up your lawn look­ing for juicy grubs – the lar­vae of june bugs, euro­pean chafers and/or ja­panese bee­tles, which feast on grass Roots and can also kill the lawn. Rake the area and patch any large holes (see pre­vi­ous pages). treat the grubs in late sum­mer or early fall us­ing bi­o­log­i­cal con­trols, such as par­a­sitic ne­ma­todes, the bac­te­ria Bacil­lus thuringien­sis or milky spore pow­der ap­plied to the en­tire lawn.
