Swim­ming po­lar bears, a koka­nee come­back, crow at­tacks and more

What’s the big deal about 5,000 koka­nee salmon be­ing counted in the Kathleen Lake sys­tem of Yukon’s Klu­ane Na­tional Park in 2015? It’s that just seven years ear­lier there were only 20 of them. Car­men Wong, an ecol­o­gist at the park, told the CBC that the koka­nee pop­u­la­tion seems to be ex­pe­ri­enc­ing the same crash and resur­gence cy­cle hap­pen­ing with other sock­eye salmon, which could be cli­mate re­lated.
