The Royal Cana­dian Geo­graph­i­cal So­ci­ety

Founded in 1929, the So­ci­ety is a non-profit ed­u­ca­tional or­ga­ni­za­tion. Its ob­ject is to ad­vance geo­graph­i­cal knowl­edge and, in par­tic­u­lar, to stim­u­late aware­ness of the sig­nif­i­cance of ge­og­ra­phy in Canada’s devel­op­ment, well-be­ing and cul­ture. Pri­mary fields of in­ter­est in­clude our peo­ple, re­sources, en­vi­ron­ment, her­itage and the evo­lu­tion of our coun­try. In short, the aim is to make Canada bet­ter known to Cana­di­ans and to the world. Cana­dian Geo­graphic, the So­ci­ety’s mag­a­zine, is ded­i­cated to re­port­ing on all as­pects of Canada’s ge­og­ra­phy — phys­i­cal, bi­o­log­i­cal, his­tor­i­cal, cul­tural and eco­nomic — and on ma­jor is­sues of con­cern to Canada in which geo­graph­i­cal di­men­sions play a sig­nif­i­cant role.
