EX­HIBIT TO OPEN IN JUNE

Renowned Cal­gary-based artist and RCGS Fel­low Chris Cran has cre­ated a se­ries of paint­ings of lead­ing So­ci­ety fig­ures that will be ex­hib­ited in the Up­per Gallery at 50 Sus­sex Dr. this sum­mer. Cran, who was re­cently fea­tured in a ma­jor ex­hibit by the Art Gallery of Al­berta and Ottawa’s Na­tional Art Gallery, is known for chal­leng­ing per­cep­tion and play­ing with il­lu­sion, for ex­plor­ing and over­turn­ing tra­di­tional artis­tic gen­res and con­tem­po­rary move­ments alike. Paint­ings and works on pa­per will in­clude So­ci­ety greats such as founder Charles Cam­sell, ge­ol­o­gist and car­tog­ra­pher Joseph Burr Tyrrell (above), ge­ol­o­gist Alice E. Wil­son and as­tro­naut Roberta Bon­dar.
