NELLIE KUSUGAK BE­COMES VICE-PA­TRON OF THE RCGS

Com­mis­sioner of Nu­navut Nellie Tap­taqut Kusugak has taken on the role of Vice-pa­tron of The Royal Cana­dian Geo­graph­i­cal So­ci­ety, join­ing ex­plorer and phi­lan­thropist Sir Christo­pher On­daatje as one of two to cur­rently hold the his­toric honorary ti­tle. Prior to be­com­ing com­mis­sioner, Kusugak ( ABOVE, at the 2018 RCGS launch of the In­dige­nous Peo­ples At­las of Canada), a cham­pion of Inuit cul­ture and lan­guage from Rankin In­let, was a pub­lic school and col­lege ed­u­ca­tor, train­ing new teach­ers through the Nu­navut Teach­ers Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­gram.
