But de­ploy­ing any­thing wide­spread in the field will be chal­leng­ing: in most places where such treat­ments could be ap­plied, most bats are al­ready gone. Mean­while, bats in the West hi­ber­nate in much smaller groups than their eastern cousins, which makes them harder to find, let alone treat.
