Skip the skew­er­ing step and bar­be­cue the edamame in a grill bas­ket, if you have one.

Thread edamame onto metal or soaked wooden skew­ers; brush with sesame oil.

Place on greased grill over medium-high heat; close lid and grill, turn­ing once, un­til ten­der and slightly charred, 6 to 8 min­utes. Re­move from skew­ers; toss with sesame seeds and salt. Serve warm.
