Cooks and Carter

3 Cooks Mill and Carter Road is were the Speed River marathon group meets for many of our workouts. This run starts by passing through a beautiful covered wooden footbridge. Then make your way along the Royal Recreation Trail (or what we call the “Fat River” trail) heading east, on the north side of Eramosa River.

Take a jaunt into the University of Guelph’s Armoetum, the Gryphons’ home cross-country course. The single track trail off Stone Road pops you out at the corner of Cooks and Carter, after a stretch of dirt and paved road, all of which are well used marathon workout routes, you do a 4K loop of what we call “Possum” for unknown reasons, otherwise known, on Google Maps, as Smith Property Loop. The final stretch takes you south along the Eramosa River, on what is referred to as “Skinny River” trail.

Guelph resident Robert Munsch is Canada’s most beloved children’s book author.
