THE CANADIAN TRACK TEAM AT RIO
After a disappointing showing at the 2012 London Games, the lead up to Rio saw some stellar performances and the emergence of truly world-class homegrown Canadian talent. For the first time in 20 years, Canadian track athletes were heading to the Olympics as medal favourites, and they delivered. Andre De Grasse won a silver and two bronze, Brianne Theisen-Eaton and Damian Warner each scored bronze. With a total of 16 top 10 finishes for track athletes alone, as well as three national records in running events, it was Canada’s finest athletics showing ever at the Olympics.
