Deep-freeze running in Saskatoon “Why I run in -40 C”

-

“I run outside in the extreme cold because I simply love to run. The cold air doesn’t stop me. I welcome the fresh air.” Jaira Crosschild “I know with certainty that I couldn’t do these extremely cold runs alone. It’s amazing to me that week after week, and even year after year, the same core group of runners get together to share with laughter, some tears and even quiet times. It’s an adventure we experience, because we can. We live in a place where at least six months of the year are winter months and we proudly and happily embrace those months and certainly don’t hide from them.”

Dave Stark “If you’re going to run in something like the Boston Marathon in mid-April, you just have to maintain and even increase your mileage in the cold. But even if you don’t have such lofty ambitions, taking a long break in mid-winter makes returning to running in the spring so much harder. And finally, there is the camaraderie of running with fellow sufferers. Perverse, I know!” Don Cochrane
